3.13 brings new atlas endgame content to Path of Exile, and also brings "combat league" - Ritual. The league mechanics of Ritual is very simple and interesting, if you haven't fully understood it, you might as well take a look at this guide.

Ritual Altars

When you enter the map, you will find several Ritual Altars. There will be at least two altars, and the number of altars will continue to increase as the map level increases

After you find the Ritual Altars on the map, you need to kill all monsters inside the circle before you can click on the altar to interact with it. After starting the ritual, the map around will turn black, and you will not be able to leave the ritual circle.. At this time, you need to kill all the summoned monsters to complete the ritual. Once you are killed in the ritual, you will be resurrected in the town.

There are different encounter types in the altar, such as Infernal, Bitter, Fluctuant, Violent, Dreaded damage themes.

With each subsequent ritual in a map, the difficulty increases, as all previously spawned mobs (in the other rituals of the same map), will be revived and added on top of the new ritual. The first ritual features mobs from only one shrine. The second ritual features mobs from the first AND second shrine, etc. With the added difficulty, of course, come added rewards.

Ritual Rewards

Spend Tribute Points

Fighting and sacrificing monsters during the ritual, by simply slaying them inside the ritual circle, will yield a new instanced currency, called "Tribute". This currency does not transfer between maps and, as such, is best used on a map-to-map basis. The more monsters are killed, the more Tribute is gained.

After defeating all the monsters of any given shrine, you can open its Favours interface, which functions as a shop, with random reward items for you to buy.

Rewards List: Ritual Base Types, Currency, Uniques, Gems, Maps, Abyss, Perandus, Harbinger, Breach, Essences, Fragments, Fossils, Prophecies, Divination Cards, Talismans, Legion, Blight, Metamorph, Ritual, Delirium, Heist

Reroll Favours

If you are not satisfied with the rewards in the shop, ritual will allow you pay a small fee of Tribute to reroll the items in the reward pool for that instance. You can only do this once per map instance, so use it wisely.

Defer a Favour Reward

Pay 15% off an item's original cost to defer that item. This item will reappear in a later area, discounted by 10% of its original cost. More valuable items can take longer to reappear.

You can defer an item more than once and defer more than one Ritual item. There is an indicator in the Favours window that displays when something has been deferred from a previous area.

If a deferred reward comes up again in a later area, you should either purchase it or defer it again. If you don’t defer it again, it doesn’t completely vanish immediately, but it does recover some of its original cost. If you allow it to get all the way back to its starting value, then it will stop reappearing for you.

Ritual Vessel

Ritual Vessels is endgame content which allow you to store the entirety of the monsters spawned by any one shrine (after you’ve beaten it) into an item for later use. This item can then be used together with a map in your map device (up to four of these vessels can be used on any one map), to drastically increase the monster density and quantity in the map, while also adding these monsters towards the shrines in that map as well.
