POE Orbs of Fusing are used to randomly reroll links between sockets on item. If item has 4 sockets and they are all already linked together, you will be unable to apply any more Orbs of Fusing. I myself mostly use Orbs of Fusing on items with 6 sockets, as it gives you chance to six-link the item. Six linked items are generally quite expensive, especially six linked unique body armors. I usually wait until late game before I start using them, except when I need to four link an item while levelling. In Path of Exile fusing probability is approximately 1 to 1500 if talking about six-linking an item, that is why Orb of Fusing is not the cheapest one. If an item has some quality, each 1% quality improves the result by 1%. While the chance of obtaining three or four linked sockets is relatively high, the chance of obtaining five or six linked sockets is very low, and on average requires hundreds or even thousands of attempts. The probability of obtaining six linked sockets is very close to 1/1500, meaning that for risk-averse players it is generally worthwhile to use the Artisan's Bench instead of using Orbs of Fusing manually.

POE Orbs of Fusing Framing guides

Two box MF cull Dom (or use friends if there are any playing HC, or find 1 or 2 friends who are into it as much as you and have them two-box). Pick up all the rares and trade for alts. This requires several things to work:

  • A decent supply of Wisdom scrolls and/or Transmutes
  • A second account with access to Dom (leveled HC character)
  • A decent MF/Culler
  • Friends that play HC (optional)

You can gain incredible amounts of alterations doing this and then vendor them up to fusings.

This is by far the easiest and fastest way to just purely farm Alteration Orb or Orb of Fusing, also you can use this technique to max out your Scrolls of Identification

Sacrifice one of your items for the 4l while leveling and keep everything else with good stats.
Always have in mind that you can get trolled hard by them fusings.
